Thank you for choosing AlphaWheel. Your privacy matters to us. This policy
explains what information we collect through the app, why we use it and how we
protect it.
Information We Collect
1. Information You Provide
- What you share when you sign in (your name and email address, for example).
- The choices you make in the game and the answers you type.
- The room name and player name you give in a live room, and the short voice clips you send with push-to-talk (relayed only, never stored — see “Live Room” below).
2. Information Collected Automatically
- Device information (device model, operating system version, IP address and the like).
- Usage data (how you use the app, the scores you get).
- Advertising ID — to serve and measure ads; see the “Ads” section below.
- Notification identifier (push token) — only so notifications can reach your device; see the “Notifications” section below.
- A random installation identifier the app generates on your device, so your challenges and the rewards you earn can be tied to the same installation. It is not a hardware identifier and it disappears when you uninstall the app.
3. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
- Cookies and similar technologies may be used to improve the user experience.
How We Use the Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Personalise your game experience.
- Fix technical problems and improve the app's performance.
- Run analytics to understand how the app is used.
- Serve ads and measure how they perform.
Ads (Google AdMob)
The app may show rewarded and interstitial ads through Google AdMob. To serve and
measure those ads and to prevent invalid traffic (fraud), AdMob may use your device's
Advertising ID and device information.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we ask
for your consent before showing you personalised ads, as applicable
data protection law requires. You can change that choice at any time, reset your
advertising ID from your device settings, or turn personalisation off entirely.

Notifications
The app sends two kinds of notification: the daily token reminder (scheduled on your
device — nothing is sent to a server) and challenge notifications (sent from the
server when someone plays your challenge or beats your score).
Notifications are only sent if you allow them: your device's
operating system delivers nothing without asking you first. For challenge
notifications we store your device's notification identifier (the push token issued
by Firebase Cloud Messaging / Apple Push Notification service) against your account —
or, if you have no account, against your guest session. That identifier is used only
to deliver notifications and is never shared with anyone for marketing.
You can turn notifications off at any time from
My Account → Notifications in the app or from your device
settings. When you turn challenge notifications off, your device's notification
identifier is deleted from the server; it is also removed when you
delete your account.
Playing Without an Account (Guest)
You can play without creating an account. We then ask for neither your name nor your
email address; the app opens an anonymous session for you. Your tokens, your challenge
records and — if you enabled them — your notification identifier are tied to that
anonymous session. As a guest, your personal records are kept
on your device only and are not sent to the server.
If you want your guest data deleted, uninstalling the app is enough: what is kept on
your device goes with it. To have the anonymous records left on the server deleted,
write to us at the email address below.
Live Room
In a live room you play at the same time as your friends or other players. When you
use this feature:
- What others in the room see: your player name (your account's username, or the name you chose if you play as a guest), the avatar assigned to you, whether you are ready, and your score during the round. The app uses an anonymous user ID to tell players apart. Names found to be offensive are automatically replaced with a neutral one.
- Public rooms: if you create a public room, its name and the host's name appear in the public room list, visible to everyone playing in the same question language. Private rooms are not listed; only people with the room code or invite link can join.
- Push-to-talk (voice): your microphone is used only while you hold the push-to-talk button; permission is asked the first time and can be withdrawn at any time in your device settings. The short clip (up to 5 seconds) is relayed through our server only to the other players in that room; it is not stored or recorded on our servers, and the temporary file on your device is deleted right away. Players in the room can mute one player or everyone.
- Reports: when you report a player, your anonymous user ID and theirs, their name, the room and the reason you chose are stored for review. Voice clips are never stored, so they are not attached to reports.
- Retention: the room record (members, names, round results) is temporary. It is deleted when the last player leaves; an abandoned room is marked for deletion 2 hours after the last activity and is removed automatically soon after (usually within 24 hours). Moment-to-moment progress during a round is not stored permanently. Points earned in a live room are not written to the general leaderboard; jetons you earn at the end of a round are added to your wallet.
Sharing Information
We do not share your personal information with third parties for marketing without
your explicit consent. Your information is passed to third parties in two cases only:
when we must meet a legal obligation, and — to the limited extent needed — with the
providers whose services keep the app running (see the section below).
Third-Party Services
The app uses the following third-party services:
- Google Firebase — authentication, data storage and usage analytics.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivering notifications to your device (together with the Apple Push Notification service on iOS).
- Google AdMob — serving and measuring ads.
- Fly.io — hosting the game servers (Frankfurt, Germany); live room connections and voice clips pass through these servers.
We recommend reviewing these services' own privacy policies as well.
Data Storage
The information we collect is stored in a secure environment. We apply security
measures such as encryption and access controls to protect your data.
Your Rights
As a user you have the right to:
- Request access to your personal data.
- Ask for your data to be corrected or deleted
(see Delete Account; if you play without an
account, see the “Playing Without an Account (Guest)” section above).
- Ask for the processing of your data to be restricted.
Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We announce every change on this
page and refresh the update date above.
